What Happens When You Put the World’s Blackest Material Inside a Lens

Photographer Mathieu Stern decided to line the inside of a lens with the darkest material available

It made me wonder, if my own lenses aren’t quite that dark, is there a lack of contrast as compared to that of when the dark material that was used in the video?!
